Field Management Services (FMS) brings together engineering experience, technical expertise, plus thousands of hours of research and hands-on testing to provide effective low-cost electromagnetic field (EMF) management options. FMS has developed and implemented hundreds of successful magnetic field mitigation plans throughout the world in commercial, industrial and institutional environments. The company's innovative approaches to magnetic field management have resulted in magnetic field reductions to below 1 milligauss, even in the most complex field environments.

FMS Research

Field Management Services participates in ongoing electric utility-supported development programs to investigate and produce low-cost electromagnetic field shielding materials, methods and technologies. These development programs include a full range of active cancellation technologies, line and circuit reconfiguration studies and passive shielding methods coupled with computerized analytical tools. An important feature of this research program is its independence. Although FMS has worked closely with several U.S. electric utilities in the course of these technical developments, and the technology developed is made available by FMS to utility customers, FMS has no financial or contractual obligations arising from this work and is the sole owner of the resulting technology.

As part of this program, FMS has conducted thousands of full-scale tests of application-specific cases on ferromagnetic and conductive materials and mitigation techniques, resulting in a continuously developing database of methods and materials which define the "leading edge" of effective and efficient field management.

Among these tests is extensive measurement and documentation of complex magnetic fields from circuit paths and electric service panels. Other tests have evaluated methods to substantially reduce magnetic field levels from transformer vaults by installation, technique, configuration and passive shielding combinations. Materials testing includes evaluation of both exotic and common industrial materials to determine the most cost-efficient materials and combinations of materials for magnetic field management.

FMS has developed a significant range of field management approaches based on these tests, and has successfully transferred this technology to real-world magnetic field avoidance and mitigation projects involving field sources in a full range of commercial, industrial and institutional settings.
